Study a new project

To create a new project manually in ProjectsProfiler:


1.Click the New project button on the toolbar.
2.Key in the information about the project in the project properties window  (in case you are entering the import settings, the project information will be imported from the specified source).
3.Click the Create project button in the project properties window.
4.If there was no import from an external system add your milestones into the project (see below):
5.If there was no import from an external system add jobs into the project (see below).
6.If ProjectsProfiler is in the edit mode, you should exit the edit mode by clicking the Edit mode button on the toolbar. Learn more...

 

Any project must have at least one milestone.


To add a milestone:


1.In the context menu click Add milestone (or choose an action in the properties panel of the chosen project). As a result - if ProjectsProfiler was not in the edit mode - it will be switched into it. Learn more...
2.Specify the milestone date on the properties panel.
3.If the milestone is already completed specify the date of its actual completion. As the result the milestone icon on the navigation panel will change from Milestone-1 to one of the following:
Milestone-2 — if the milestone was completed in time;
Milestone-3 — if the milestone was completed after the planned date.
4.To save changes you can just continue working with ProjectsProfiler. To abort changes click Back button on the toolbar.
5.Create jobs to be performed in the project. To do it choose Add new job action on the properties panel. (see below).

 

Any project job must be linked to some milestone.

You can assign employees both during the creation of a job and afterwards.


To add a job into a project and assign employees:


1.Select Add job in the context menu of a project or a milestone (or choose this action in the selected project (milestone) properties panel). As the result if ProjectsProfiler was not in the edit mode it will be switched into it. Learn more...
2.Specify the principal skill of the employees for this job.
3.Jobs are automatically named after the main skill. Change the job name if necessary. To do it click the job name and specify the new name for it.
4.Select a milestone the job will be linked to.
5.Specify other parameters of the job: due date, duration, planned volume, percentage of the job done to the job to be done.
6.Assign employees to the job. To do it click Add on the properties panel. The Assign employees for a job window will open. The window shows the list of employees. Employees with the required skill sorted ascending by their workload in the supposed period of time will be on the top of the list:
click Assign in front of employees you would like to assign to the job;
at the right-hand part of the window you can change the period of assignment and planned workload of the employees in this job;
if you would like to cancel employee's assignment click DelBtn;
click OK in the Assign employees for a job window.
6.To save changes you can just continue working with ProjectsProfiler. To abort changes click Back button on the toolbar.
